First Annual Bill Velsy Fish Tournment

This is a Snapper / Cocktail Blues Tournament.

Each boat in tournament can only have 4 people fishing at the same time. You can bring as many people as you want on your boat. But only 4 people can be fishing at one time.

The fishing grounds for tournament are west of the second red buoy into Flanders bay. Anyone caught East of the second buoy will be disqualified and their boat will be confiscated and sold at auction.

The tournament will start anytime on Sept 14, 2024 until 3:00 pm. The weight in will take place at 316 Royal Ave - Entrance of the canal. Last weight in will be at 3:30 pm.  The object of the tournament is to catch the largest Snapper or cocktail Blue.  The law limits 3 fish per a person.

At the end of the tournament we will measure and weigh the largest fish from each boat to determine a winner.

If we have a tie. We can measure and weigh the second largest fish from each boat to determine the winner.

The winning Boat will win Prize money collected from tournament and the Famous Snapper trophy. You will also have bragging rights for 1 year and will keep the Trophy in your possession till the next tournament.

No one likes cheaters. So let’s keep the tournament honest. No one will be watching you so let’s just have a fun day out and start a new tradition on the canal.

Times for the tournament will be determined as we get closer to the day of the tournament. We are looking to have it on the same day as the end of season BBQ which will be possibly the week after Labor Day.

The tournament fee will be $40 per boat. All money collected from registration will be added to prize money. Please register soon so we know how many boats will be participating.

Tournament Registration will be on Friday - Sept 13, 2024 between 6 - 9 pm at 316 Royal Ave.
